Sales Tax requirements include:
- All businesses located within Larimer County shall collect the .80% sales tax on all applicable products and some services as provided in Article 2, Title 29, Colorado Revised Statutes, as amended.
- In addition to County (.80%) and State (2.9%) sales tax, Cities in Larimer County may also collect tax. Licenses may be required for each city. Please check with each city separately.

BUSINESS INCENTIVES
Enterprise Zones Colorado's Enterprise Zone program provides tax incentives to encourage businesses to locate and expand in designated economically distressed areas of the state. Businesses located in a zone may qualify for ten different Enterprise Zone Tax Credits and Incentives to encourage job creation and investment in these zones. To determine if a specific address is within a zone, contact Larimer County’s Enterprise Zone Administrator, Lew Wymisner at 970.498.6605.
Job Creation Performance Incentive Fund The Job Creation Performance Fund provides a performance-based incentive payment to qualifying companies that have created net new jobs paying above average wages. The program is designed to support and encourage new business development, business expansions and relocations that have generated new jobs throughout the State.
Enhanced Incentive Program The Enhanced Incentive Program (EIP) provides an additional performance-based incentive payment to companies that have qualified under the State’s Job Creation Performance Incentive Fund (PIF) and have created new jobs paying at higher than verage wages. The program is designed to support highly desirable and high-impact job creation opportunities.
Aircraft Manufacturer Tax Credits Aircraft manufacturers located in a Colorado aviation development zone may qualify for a state income tax credit of $1,200 per new employee.
Biotechnology Sales and Use Tax Refund Colorado promotes its biotechnology industries by providing them with a taxpayer-friendly means to recover the sales and use taxes paid in the preceding year on equipment and supplies purchased to conduct biotechnology research and development. Qualified taxpayers may seek a refund every year for all Colorado sales and use taxes they paid on purchases of tangible personal property used directly and predominately in research and development of biotechnology. This includes property such as microscopes, chemical reagents, and software. The refund helps promote the biotechnology industry in the state, aiding both start-up and established companies
Colorado FIRST and Existing Industry Job Training Assistance Colorado First and Existing Industry grants are jointly administered by the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) and the Colorado Community College System (CCCS).
Colorado First grants are for companies that are relocating to Colorado or existing companies that are undertaking a major expansion.
Existing Industry grants are designed for Colorado companies that are implementing new technology to remain competitive and keep jobs in Colorado. Approved training is for transferable job skills that support both the company's economic competitiveness by re-training its workers in new skills, while enhancing the workers' resumes and long-term employment opportunities.
Colorado Film Production 10% Cash Rebate Incentive The Colorado Film Incentive program, established by the state legislature in 2006, is a performance based incentive plan that may rebate up to 10% of the cost of producing a film, documentary or television program when that project is produced and filmed in Colorado. To qualify, a production must spend at least 75 percent of total below-the-line expenditures and 75 percent of total payroll in Colorado. Out-of-state production companies must spend a total of at least $1 million, and Colorado-based companies must spend at least $100,000. A pre-application must be approved before beginning production. The 10% incentive is paid upon completion and verification of the qualifying expenditures. Film Production Incentive Funds are administered by the Colorado Economic Development Commission and are subject to availability of funds. Manufacturing Revenue Bonds
Manufacturing Revenue Bond Program provides favorable tax-exempt Private Activity Bond financing targeted to small manufacturers in Colorado. The program provides for the financing of real estate, machinery, and equipment associated with expansion projects specific to manufacturers. Borrowers must meet all eligibility thresholds and federal tax code requirements, and often must compete for available volume, which is capped statewide under federal rules
